Apologies from GI’s – Nutt BEM, Baker T, Stone, MacCallum, Westall, Nuttycombe, Jewell, Beer, Rennie and Lester.

The 280th Meeting was held at the St Levans Inn on Thursday 10th October 2013.

The President opened the Meeting at 20:00 with the Loyal Toast to Gunners, Missilemen and POAWW’s everywhere. (Note the serial start time, it’s been a while since we achieved this!!)

Sadly a Minute Silence was observed in Memory of Norman R Batley (A GI’s of 67) who recently Crossed the Bar.

Sincere Condolences to his family and friends.

Minute Proposals: The 279th Minutes were Proposed by GI Luker and seconded by GI Bennett.

Apologies to Mr Johnson who attended last month’s Meeting as it has become apparent that he never served in HMNZN.

Treasurer’s Report:

The cash statement was read out to the members present.

Below is an outlay of the stock that I hold and prices. If anyone is interested in purchasing any of these goods then please contact me.

      Polo Shirts

      Cuff Links

      Lapel Badges

Secretary’s Report:  I reminded Members present that as of December I will be standing down as Secretary and as of yet nobody within the Association has shown an interest in taking over the reins. Consequently, if no one comes forward then there will be no Minutes of the Meetings.

Social Secretary’s Report: A letter was forwarded to the Second Sealord reference the costing of functions within HMS Raleigh and HMS Drake from the civilian companies which the MOD have granted contracts.  We received a reply from the Second Sealord, and as per the trend that is circulating Naval Establishments, they favoured the civilian company rather than the Association that has Serving and Ex-Serving Members who are Serving or have served their country for countless years!!

Could you please let me know if you have handed your fine to a Committee Member?

Lt Dobson 2 bottles – His wife over indulging on after dinner mints and his guest Simon Kingdom for wearing his hat throughout the meal.

WO Honeychurch – His guest Jeff Maunder eased springs early.

Simon Clarke – For wearing ladies make up.

GI Lewis x 2 – For being grumpy and for no vegetables with the meal.

All port fines are to be paid for as soon as possible and handed to any member of the Committee or presented at any of the monthly Meetings.

Vice President:  GI Cook stated the position of Secretary and also GI Lewis has suggested that, in the not too distant, he will be stepping down as President. These are two positions within the Association Committee that are vital to ensure the running of this Association.  If we do not get people coming forward to take up the responsibility then the consequences could be severe for the Association.
