The 270th Meeting was held at the St Levans Inn
on Thursday 8th November 2012.
The President opened the Meeting at 2008 with our customary
two minutes silence to remember those who have lost their
lives in wars and conflicts past and present.
On completion of the two minutes silence we continued with
our Loyal Toast to Gunners, Missilemen and POAWW’s
Prior to seconding the Minutes of the 269th
Meeting GI Luker did question their accountability as there
was a statement that read, “A well built good looking
chap!!” (Obviously none existent in our Association!!). The
269th Meeting Minutes were Proposed correct by GI
McKie and Seconded by GI Luker.
The cash statement was read out.

While carrying out his weekly veterans visit to Stonehouse
Division talking to the recruits he was blessed with the
presence of their Divisional Officer, who Jan hadn’t been
introduced to before. Being the gentleman that he is he
introduced himself and questioned if the Officer had just
come from a sea billet? Their reply was “No, I have just
returned from 15 months maternity leave”.
GI Evans G:
Good to be back in the Association and look forward to
attending future meetings and functions. (Good to have you
Was quick marching himself through town yesterday, minding
his own business, when out of the corner of his eye he
spotted someone that looked very familiar. It couldn’t be
though as they were wearing a tea cosy on their head and
looked as though they had been dressed by the Rider
Foundation and being led along by a young attractive lady,
who I imagined was their carer. On closer inspection he
wasn’t someone moving on to a new Big Issue selling pitch,
it was our good friend GI MacCallum
Would like to make it known that GI Baker T, after making a
big commotion about our President using an I-Pad at
meetings, didn’t have the decency to be present to witness
the President back to having paper in front of him. Oh, and
not forgetting “Lovely Jubbly”
Quick update on my health situation. I am now fighting on
five fronts, two new ones since the last meeting I attended.
My Egyptian Oncology surgeon has a wonderful sense of
humour, the first question he asks you “Do you mind if my
trainee doctors and nurses come in with me?” His second
“You’re looking well Mr Bladen, I had you dead 12 months
ago”. As all the trainees are looking in the other direction
my surgeon and I are laughing our heads off. That aside,
radiotherapy is the way ahead, they’re not going to use
chemotherapy as that brings on the illness and they don’t
see any need in making you ill just for the sake of it.
My son joins the Navy on the 16th January 2013
having passed his aptitude test with 100%.
Received my extension of service last week which keeps me
within the RN until 2015
