Apologies from GI’s – Lewis, Morgan, McKie, McCallum, Baker
T, Pointon, Manning and Luther.
Please excuse my absence, but due to unforeseen
circumstances I feel unable to attend.
I would like to thank, most sincerely, all those who
contributed to make Friday night the wonderful Gunnery
Serial that it was. Those people include Terry, Mr Potts,
Rattler and Dave McKie. If it wasn’t for these staunch
Members the night would not have happened and I feel that
the Association needs to appreciate this. Further Thanks go
to Lena Morgan and Schanine Dobson who counted the £535
raised during the raffle.
My final Thanks go to all those who gave up their Easter
Friday evening to attend and make it the success that it
was. As usual Evers, Claire, myself and Mrs L were the last
ones to vacate at 03.40 – standards and all that.
The 263rd Meeting was held at the St Levans Inn

WO SEA Arty Shaw:
Thank you and your Gunnery Instructors Association very much
indeed for a brilliant evening last night at the Annual
Dinner. Angie and I had a fantastic time. A first class
event, splendid food, good service, entertaining speeches
and terrific company were experienced by all. Angie and I
were privileged to attend, we thoroughly enjoyed the
evening. It was wonderful sitting with Jan, Chris and Daz,
who, supported by their partners and guests, were great
company. There was never a dull moment. I was amazed to
learn how much good stuff you have achieved in support to
various charities in the local area – some of which are
extremely close to my heart; you all have a lot to be proud
of. As an Ex-Gunner, privileged with SMDO Training at HMS
Cambridge, it was an honour to be at the Dinner.
Mrs Jenny Roberts:
I would like Thank You all on such a wonderful and splendid
Ladies Night. Our Guests and I really enjoyed it.
Everything was well presented and thoroughly enjoyable and
it was nice to dress up.

As there were only a small minority in attendance this
evening it was agreed that we would carry over the prizes
from tonight’s Meeting to next month.
Made it known that Tom Luther called Mrs Curnow on the
Thursday morning to enquire what day the Dinner was. He
stated that he thought the Dinner was on the Saturday!!
Mrs Curnow did correct him at this point.
Andrea thoroughly enjoyed herself on Friday night and wishes
me to make her apologies to the President for keeping the
“Top Table” waiting while she applied her lippy. She also
left me without a jacket for the beginning of the evening
which wasn’t spotted by the Vice President! (Sec: Rattler,
I will leave that admission in your hands but I’m sure that
self admissions to come with a port fine!!)
Passed on his compliments to Terry from himself and all his
eight guests for an outstanding evening. They had travelled
from Manchester and London to attend and thoroughly enjoyed
themselves. Definitely looking forward attending next year.
Gutted that Terry is standing down, he has done us proud.
Reports that all his faeces is in one foot cover!! Glad to
For those that are interested, Sam is attending the reunion
of HMS Hayne in Portsmouth this weekend. Robbie then
pointed out that there was a mutiny onboard the Hayne back
in the sixties. Tom Archer was thoroughly impressed with
Robbie’s knowledge of such things; especially seeing as this
certain mutiny was kept very hush hush.
As I stated a while ago when Terry took over as Social
Secretary, I was his Divisional Officer many years ago. So,
far be it for me to say nice things about him, so I won’t.
All my guests at the Ladies Night were drinkers from here at
the St.Levans. Likewise with all other comments they
thoroughly enjoyed themselves and I would like to pass on to
Terry theirs and my Thanks for a fantastic evening.
