Secretary’s Report:  My apologies to GI Baker T as I didn’t realise our Minutes were going to appear on Facebook and failed to censor his email to me.  Ty, please keep sending me your emails and I will promise to censor in future.

Social Secretary’s Report:  All final preps for our Ladies Night are now in full swing and I am waiting for the last minute rush of names.  I will be sending out emails keeping everyone up to date with the way things are progressing.  Please read your emails and reply accordingly.

Vice President: Photographer for Ladies Night will be in house and will cost us £5 a photo.  It is the intention to take a group photo on the evening as well.  There will be a raffle on the night and all monies raised will be going to a charity of our choice.

Vice President fined our Social Secretary a bottle of port for being adrift for his own nominated serial start.

On Thursday 10th January 2001 our now President was elected into the seat and he has been in office for 110 Meetings.  Four people present at that General Meeting were also attending the 250th.  They were:

AOB:

GI Luker: Does Waterstones sell Facebook?

GI Baker: I did notice on Facebook that our President had a pop at Ceremonial Training onboard HMS Manchester while it was on television, nuff said.

Did query with Mr Dobson if it was he that had an oppo who was looking for liquorice legs.  The answer was yes.  Ty made good with the request and informed Mr Dobson that he had acquired a pair of the said liquorice legs that he could have.

GI Archer: Informed the Members that he was moving house and so asked if anyone knew of anywhere that he could hire a Luton van?  Of course the instant reply of “yes, Luton” rung around the hall.  Mr Archers’ reply to that was “I hate you Matelot bastards”.

GI Sims: Two things – Firstly, Taurus van hire!!  Secondly, I don’t do Facebook, I haven’t got a clue what Plaxo is, so Happy Birthday to me for 16th January.

GI Bladen: In October my scan showed that the cancer had stopped.  It hadn’t gone but hadn’t got any worse.  I went back to work for 6 weeks on the liner in California, came back 2nd March for another scan which showed everything to be the same as it was in October.  The good thing is that it’s not growing but it’s not reducing.  My doctors are quite willing to manage me as there is nothing happening with the cancer.  However, if they operate on the cancer there is a bigger likelihood that I would lose my leg than the cancer getting worse.

GI Cooper: Stated that GI Boyle should not be allowed to step down from his position as Social Secretary until the President requires him to step down.

GI Rennie: “Unaccustomed as I am to public speaking, I would like to make the following noted: Every single one of you guys here tonight, with good health, with bad health, your ailments, your families, your humour - you are the best bunch of fellas that I ever want to part of – thank you.”

GI Roberts “FMTH”: “Talking of people’s health and medicines, I would like everybody to know that I have been on CSB since I was four years old and as you can see it’s not harmed me in any way whatever!!”
